Jack C. Mathews Scholarship Fund Application for Students
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must:
- Be a current member in good standing of Los Angeles Federal Credit Union (but not a LAFCU employee nor a family member of an employee).
- Be a high school student graduating in 2026 or a high school graduate who will attend a college, university or trade school in Fall 2026, or be a student or graduate student currently attending a college, university or trade school.
- Have had a minimum 2.50 GPA while you were attending high school or college.
The following items are needed to be considered for a scholarship:
- A copy of applicant’s most recent academic transcripts.
- One letter of recommendation, from a teacher, mentor, or a concerned adult who is not related to the applicant.
- A list of extracurricular activities or honors.
- An outline of community service or involvement
- Verification of acceptance and/or enrollment into an accredited college or trade school
- Create and submit one VIDEO (up to 60 seconds long) via Direct message to LAFCU's Instagram page, that replies to this question:
“Artificial Intelligence is being used more regularly in school, work, and in our daily lives. What is your overall opinion of AI? List some pros and/or cons.”
- Submit your application & all documentation in PDF format online (see below for upload prompts), along with all required documents.

All entries must be submitted online or emailed to MarketingDept@LAFCU.org by April 17, 2026. Videos must be uploaded via Direct message to LAFCU's Instagram page, also by this date. (Please do NOT email videos to MarketingDept@LAFCU.org; videos MUST only be submitted via Direct message to LAFCU's Instagram page.)
The LAFCU scholarship selection committee will make all award decisions, and the winners will be notified by May 8, 2026.

A maximum of 10 scholarships for $9,000 each will be awarded for a total of $90,000.
